Are thin or thick socks better for running?
Yes, thick socks are better for running. However, thin socks are still good for walking too.
If you want to run in your normal shoes, then it is best to use thin socks. If you want to walk in your regular shoes, then it is better to use thick socks.
If you have tight muscles or tendons and need some extra support, then thicker socks may be the solution for you.
Is it better to run with long or short socks?
Yes, it is better to run with long socks than short ones. The benefit of long socks is that they're more comfortable and can provide a bit more insulation than short socks. They also provide longer wear and are less likely to get dirty during a race.
Are compression socks good for trail running?
No, compression socks are not good for trail running. They only decrease friction and reduce the amount of water that is put into your foot.
If you're going to be hiking or running long distances, you probably don't need to use them. If you're in a race where there are hills, however, they might help a little bit (and maybe even make your feet feel more comfortable).
Do you wear socks with trail running shoes?
No, I don't wear socks with trail running shoes.
I do however wear them with my shoes because they provide a little protection from the trail. I have found that they work quite well in a pinch while walking or running, especially if they are thin and lined up with my toes. They also provide some protection against the elements when it is hot and humid on the trails.
The only time I would wear socks with shoes would be when it was extremely hot or humid and there was no other option (i.e., hiking). In those cases, I would just use water to cool me down before wearing them on the trail!
