Why is a brushless reciprocating saw better?
Brushless saws are more expensive than their brush-operated counterparts (they are more costly to produce and require special tooling), but they are a better, more efficient tool for the job. The key is longevity: brushless saws last longer, and if you look at the shelf life of brushless saws, they are comparable to their brush-operated counterparts despite the higher initial cost. This longevity translates to a lot of money in reduced maintenance and spares.
Are reciprocating saws and Sawzall the same?
This is actually a question worthy of a blog post, but I'll give you a short answer. The reciprocating saw is the earliest version of the sawzall. They are both the same. If you're looking for a sawzall, you should have no problems finding one. If you're looking for a reciprocating saw, you should be able to find one at any large tool store.
What would you use a reciprocating saw for?
A Reciprocating Saw usually has an arbor over the blade and is the most common saw type. It is used to cut wood, metal, plastic, and nails.
Can you cut plywood with a reciprocating saw?
A reciprocating blade is a saw that cuts by a series of oscillations, rather than a continuously moving blade that cuts from the left to right side. A woodworking reciprocating saw is typically set up to cut through the plywood, as well as the support board that supports the plywood, allowing you to cut through the middle of the plywood, which can give you a very clean and straight cut. You might want to look into getting a circular saw (as opposed to a saw with a straight blade) for cutting plywood, which is much less likely to tear through the support board.
